I’ve been working to get my style down for a few years now. Interior has always been something I really loved. I even thought about minoring in Interior Design because I loved it so much. When I first started being able to buy things for my apartment, I would buy things that I really like individually instead of thinking of the full look. Of course, this left me with a hodgepodge of random styles, which didn’t go together.
I’ve slowly been replacing things or getting rid of things that don’t go with the style I’ve been trying to create for my room. I bought a champagne color bed set a few years ago that I’ve always been in love with. It’s the perfect champagne color – not too gold, but not yet silver. It’s a bit mirrored but isn’t overly dramatic. Since this is a huge, and investment piece for the bedroom, I want to ensure that everything else compliments it well.
I started with a lot of bright whites and neutrals to lighten up my room, then added the color I wanted later. Colored decor pieces are the best type of color to incorporate because it’s super easy to switch out when you’re wanting to change up the look. My room has touches of gold, navy, and blush pink throughout, while the main piece in my room – my bed – has a pretty white comforter.
The comforter was so hard to choose. I looked for weeks on weeks and ordered a few to test out. When I ordered a plain white comforter, it looked too plain, but if it had a pattern, it was too busy. I was searching for the perfect textured, but subtle, white duvet, and this was the perfect one! It really compliments the room well! It’s a bit on the pricier end, but I’d highly recommend it!
Now that I’ve got my room (almost) right where I want it, I’ve been super cautious that the rest of my house has the same, or complimenting, style. I definitely have a few more pieces I need to get to complete my room, but it’s really feeling close to perfect! The rest of my house is definitely more modern and a little less girly than my room, which happened courtesy to the blush! The rest of my house has a bit of an industrial twist with more metals and natural elements, like my cement table!
To ensure that the rest of the pieces fit my style, I like to put collages together in Keynote! I highly recommend doing the same for your space as well. Keynote makes it super easy to take the background out of photos, then place them together, just as they would be in your space if you bought them! I do it for every furniture piece I’m planning to buy now! But, to help you guys out, I found a few different modern chic items that I am currently eyeing for you guys to create and add to your own spaces!
