Well, guys, it’s kind of ironic that this post didn’t get posted this morning. I got this post up and ready this weekend and planned to go back in to schedule it, but I totally forgot because I went out for drinks with my friend! The reason it’s ironic is that this blog post is all about friends and how the focus of my next few weeks is going to be on my friends. I left out of town this past weekend to visit my best friend, Darby, and meet her baby that was born in December. Side note: she is seriously the cutest and baby snuggles are the best thing in the world.
I’ll be traveling for 3 weekends straight. Last week I was feeling really stressed. With work, my personal life, and getting ready to not be home for the next few weeks. I was trying to figure out how to deal with the overwhelming amount of things I had to do. I have a few returns, I am taking real estate classes, I had to care for my sick cactus, stick to my weeknight workout routine, make it to church during the week since I was out of town on the weekends, make dinner each night, and pack. With my few hours I had to myself after work, I felt so overwhelmed. Work has also been so busy the past 2 weeks my mind has been spinning a million miles a minute.
I was talking with my mom about how stressed I was thinking I might cancel one of my weekend trips. When I mentioned all the things I had to do out loud, I felt so dumb… I am so lucky. I am lucky to have things to return, to have a cactus to take care of, to have the opportunity to expand my education, and to have these friends that want me to be there in their lives. When I was talking with my mom she said ‘you have to keep your weekend plans – it’s so important to see your friends.’ Uhh, yeah! She reminded me if I didn’t work out one of the nights I had planned, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. Plus, my real estate classes I can take at my own pace. It didn’t all have to be done right away.
I’m known for taking everything I have to do and piling it into a busy week just because it’s on my to-do list. I just want to get things done. I have and I am slowly learning to take things as they come and remind myself to prioritize. With that, my friends come first. They seriously mean so much to me. I shouldn’t jeopardize my plans with them over random things like returns and workouts!
So whoever else is stressed out there, remember to stick to the plans that matter most. Whether that be your parents, husband/wife, kids, friends, etc. The other stuff will fall into place and get done when you are free. Making memories is the best part of life, so remember to put that first!
These pictures are from a trip I took to Baton Rouge the other weekend for my little’s couple’s shower! I stayed with my friend Karli and spent the day before the shower with my friend Hannah – they’re both in the picture! We seriously had the best weekend together and I wouldn’t trade any stressed task for it 🙂
It was still pretty cold in Baton Rouge a couple weekends ago, so I took one of my favorite winter coats. This red coat from J.Crew that I got last year. It’s been in stock for the past 2 years because it’s one of their best sellers and it’s available in a few different colors! I can pair this coat with so many different outfits. This weekend I paired it with a black peplum top, my new favorite pair of jeans, my (won’t believe the price) black over the knee boots and this plaid blanket scarf! I’ve tagged a few similar items to what Hannah and Karli were wearing in the images below!
