When I was walking through the aisles of Nordstrom Rack and saw the lace details on this red dress, I had to try it on.
I had been loving those Self Portrait dresses, like this one and this one, but hadn’t been able to make the purchase yet. As soon as I tried on this flattering Self Portrait look-alike, I knew it was coming home with me.
I actually bought this dupe a few months back. It was only available in a Large, but it was under $60, so I snagged it up and took it to the tailor. Before alterations, this dress was pretty big (I’m normally a size small). However, I loved how much leg room this dress had in the skirt, and in the arms, so I decided to really only take in the dress at my waist, and shorten the sleeves a bit.
A few weeks go by after buying this dress, and I had yet to wear it. I couldn’t decide what I wanted to wear it out to yet. Then I knew – this dress will be perfect for either a nice date night or a wedding!
I was getting ready for a ‘formal optional’ wedding the other week and was sitting in my closet stunned. What do I wear?! I don’t like to wear long gowns unless it’s specifically specified. For some reason, I feel a bit funny showing up in a ‘formal’ long gown. But, I felt like most of my cocktail dresses were too casual, especially for a ‘formal optional’ wedding! I turned in my closet and this dress perfectly fit the bill. If you’re ever invited to a ‘Formal Optional’ wedding, I definitely recommend going in a very nice cocktail dress.
The lace detailing on this dress is seriously so beautiful, I can’t stop talking about it! I’ve actually already worn it out twice now. Working for rewardStyle, I attended our rewardStyle conference this past weekend. I was deciding between this red lace dress and another black lace dress for our finale party. This year’s finale party was also marked ‘formal optional’! It was a bit cold outside, and I knew I wanted to wear something with sleeves. Even though this dress had long sleeves, it was still perfectly breathable for a night of drinking and dancing. Y’all know I stay out there on that dance floor!
This dress is actually on super sale right now for about $35 sleeveless in white. This would be perfect for any of you brides out there. Seriously – you’ll need a white dress for everything – bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, bachelorette party, etc. I’m actually thinking about getting it for my future sister-in-law for all of her upcoming wedding festivities!
What do you guys think of this dress? Think it could pass as a Self Portrait dress? I’ve had a few people comment asking if it was!
Thanks for stopping by!
