Now depending on where you’re at, Fall might be a loose term. I went to Louisiana State University, where when you walk outside in August, your glasses fog over because it’s so hot and humid out.
I met almost all of my best friends in college. The saddest decision I’ve ever made was graduating a semester early – because I had to leave all of my friends. We’re all from other cities and when we graduated we all moved back to our hometown. Since then, one of my best friends has moved to Dallas, but she works 12-14 hour days and I rarely get to see her. When we do see each other, it’s typically for someone’s wedding or wedding festivity!
Since we’ve graduated, we haven’t all gone back together for a weekend to act like we were still in college. So, when we found out our sorority, Delta Zeta, was having a 100-year reunion, we decided to all make the trip back.
The Friday we got there, we headed to Juban’s for a Delta Zeta reunion dinner. The food was delicious, the bar was packed, and they had live music. I got to see both my little and grand little in one room again, as well as a ton of other sorority sisters. It was so much fun! We all stayed at my friend Hannah’s boyfriend, Jim’s house!
When I was in college, we would start tailgating around 10 AM. I have no idea how I lasted all day every single Saturday then. This time around we knew we needed to start later. Since the game didn’t start until 6 PM and it was so hot outside, we went to lunch at one of our favorite spots and waited to tailgate until 2. We walked around the parade grounds to different tailgates before the game, then finally walked in early around 5 to catch the pre-game show. It was so much fun to be back in Death Valley with some of my best friends, but the football was pretty sad this year, haha!
Whether you’re an LSU fan or not, you’ll need to get tailgate ready just about every Saturday this Fall. When I went to LSU I tried to buy purple and yellow here and there, but a lot of times I wore neutral pieces with a touch of color, or would just wear one of the colors, with a more neutral top or bottom paired. My advice to you would be to pick one of your school’s colors, then pair it with something nude, grey, or black!
For this game, I decided to go with a white peplum crop top, that I got from Pull & Bear when I was visiting London a few years ago. I paired it with these gold satin and white lace shorts and nude sandals. My outfit is all neutral and something I’d definitely wear again, but it still shows my school spirit by sporting the gold. Lucky us, a neutral color is one of our main colors! One of my friends decided to go neutral as well by throwing together a white button up blouse with her favorite pair of black denim shorts. The rest of my friends here decided to go casual and throw on a tiger tee – also perfect for lounging around. Check out my photos below for more!
I’ve curated some of my tailgating favorites to wear for both now, and for the upcoming colder weather. Below you’ll find some neutrals as well as some LSU pride 😉 Geaux Tigers!
