First off, Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you had an amazing long weekend with family and friends. Or are continuing to have a great long week off! The weekend was too short. It was such a nice refresher to realize the things in life that make you complete, and that help you restart for the new year. It’s nice to have a lazy, but festive, time at home with family before hopping back into the swing of things again.
It’s back to work for me today, and with that, I wanted to share with you all how to dress for work and play in the winter! One of my favorite things to put on when I’m going out is a skirt. Skirts are so versatile, and can really dress up your look. I’ve paired this fuzzy grey sweater (which is very warm and currently on sale for about $60 by the way), with jeans and leggings before, and it looks so casual. When I pair a sweater like this one with a skirt and knee-high heeled boots, it makes the look much more professional. Add a work-style purse (this one has padding for your laptop, which I love) and you’re all set for the office.
One thing about selecting the sweater I pair with my skirts depends on how baggy it is. The baggier the sweater, the harder it is to pair with your skirt because there would be too much fabric to tuck. I do have some longer sweaters, but they don’t have as much fabric and sometimes I tie them up, instead of tucking and that works too. This sweater hits just at my hip so it’s perfect for folding over a skirt nicely.
Now the skirt you choose will also rely on your sweater choice. I couldn’t wear a skirt that was too baggy with this sweater since this sweater is already a lot of fabric. I typically try to pair my looser skirts with tighter shirts. It really flatters your body when you mix up the looseness and tightness of your items that you’re pairing. Of course, this will depend on your body type!
I love these heeled boots for the office and for after because they’re not too tall so they really are all-day wear boots. Not to mention they’re only $50! I highly recommend a heel that isn’t too tall so that it will last you all day. When you take away the heel from this look, it still works, but I think the heel gives it a bit more ‘after work’ play style.
After work, change out your work bag for your crossbody. Sometimes I even keep my crossbody inside of my work purse so that after work I can just switch out. Especially if I’m going straight to work to happy hour!
