In Honor of my brother getting married this week, I thought I’d share the Bachelorette Party that I hosted with the other bridesmaids for my future sister-in-law!
My brother, Kyle, and his fiancé, Robin, started dating about 4 years ago now. My brother is a pilot and Robin is an Occupational Therapist, but when they met, she was at Flight Attendant training. She made a friend during the training (who knew my brother), and she told them they had to meet. She gave them each other’s numbers and told them to call each other, so they did! They lived in different cities, so after talking for a while, decided to meet up, and the rest is history. Kyle proposed in February of 2016, so they’ve been planning for almost 2 years and finally get married this Saturday, October 28, 2017!
Just a few weekend ago, I hosted Robin and the 3 other bridesmaids at my townhouse in Dallas! None of the other girls live here, so it was up to me to help with the planning and host them at my house (plus super budget-friendly)!
I’ve thrown another bachelorette party before, just not at my house. Luckily, I had a few decorations from my last party, and I’ve slowly been collecting them. I know have what I call a ‘Bachelorette Kit’ ready for any bachelorette party any of my friends need, haha! After you’ve thrown or hosted a couple, you start to form a bag of decor!
I will start by saying it was actually super nice to host the bachelorette as opposed to going somewhere because I knew the space super well – I knew exactly how much stuff I needed and where I could put it, instead of hoping you have enough to decorate a hotel. However, I am alllll about traveling for the bachelorette party, it may just be a little different when it comes to decor.
For party decorations, I am a firm believer of ‘the more the better’! Holidays, parties, whatever you’re looking to decorate for, the more decor you have, the more festive your party will look and feel!
For my space, I stuck with two different banners, a Mr and Mrs sign, a lace table runner, three different kinds of confetti, ring shot glasses, a penis cup (for the bride of course), penis straws, a bride sash, champagne, champagne glasses, rock candy to pour champagne over, and both ‘Drunk in Love‘ and ‘She Said Yes‘ napkins!
The bachelorette party started Friday night and ended Sunday morning! None of us were able to take off of work on Friday, so we started later on Friday night. We ended up going to Louie Louie’s Piano Bar in Deep Ellum and I couldn’t recommend it enough. The waitress was so nice and we got a front row spot. We made a reservation and they only hold reservations until 8, so we got there super early, but it was right when the music was about to start. A couple of hours later and we were so glad we got our seat front and center because it ended up being packed.
Saturday we had planned to do a beer bike, but the beer bike guy didn’t have enough people sign up. If you decide to do a beer bike, I’d make sure your group is big enough or make sure the company will give you some time in advance to know. We didn’t know until the day before, so we planned to do our own pub crawl, but the festivities of the night before kept us from drinking anymore the next day! We started off with brunch at Dolce Riviera, which has one of the best atmosphere’s for brunch, date night, or even a girl’s day! Plus their food is so good. It’s right in between The Grove and Marie Gabrielle so after brunch we walked around The Harwood District before heading to the mall for some shopping.
Saturday night we did dinner at Stirr – I recommend their rock shrimp, calamari, salmon, or tortellini – it’s one of my favorite places for dinner and drinks! Stirr has a rooftop that has a nice view of the Dallas skyline plus a free ring light photo booth! From there, we headed to Dots for an outdoor patio drink, then to Truth & Alibi to dance. After Deep Ellum, we headed to Whippersnapper and ended the night at Beauty Bar – some of the best dance bars in Dallas!
All the girls left early on Sunday, so we didn’t get to go to brunch. But, if you’re looking for other brunch places check out State and Allen, Grayson Social, Rapscallion, Meddlesome Moth, or Hattie’s!
