Texas weather, as always, has been crazy lately. One day it’s freezing and I have to break my winter coat back out. The other, I’m sweating in a dress and sandals. I laid out and got a sunburn just last week, but was freezing in long sleeves and pants today! Because of that, it’s so important for outfits that don’t scream ‘winter’ in this transitional weather.
Even more so in an office setting. We cannot get the temperature right at our office. One day it’s freezing, but the second you wear something too warm, you know it will be so hot that day! So, I’ve been trying to layer more for work. Once I got the ‘layer’ for the office tactic down, I realized I had a few winter coats and some blazers from when I had to dress ‘business’, but didn’t have any transitional jackets. I’ve been borrowing my roommates for a little while, but have quickly realized I need to make some investments here.
This leather jacket is one of the few favorites I’ve borrowed! A few of my co-workers have this exact same one because it was too good to pass up. I would pretty much recommend all of the BlankNYC jackets! They are always so cute and are such a good value. This suede moto jacket and embroidered spring jacket are both personal favorites.
The grey shirt I’m wearing here is such a staple because it’s easy to dress up or down. The biggest plus is that it’s only $20 and comes in a few different colors and sleeve lengths. It even comes in a petite size, in case the regular crop is too long! It’s pretty basic, so I’d recommend spicing it up with printed pants, or a neck scarf and leather jacket!
After you have the transitional tops, you can pair it with a variety of bottoms. I chose jeans (similar) because I just got these and they are so soft, but this would pair really well with printed pants or a black skirt, too. Then for the shoes, I went with mules (similar) because they’re easy to throw on or off depending on where I am at. Plus, they keep my toes warm, while still getting a breeze. I will note that as soon as it starts getting warm out, the mules are off, so keep that in mind!
Then, as soon as the sun comes out, I’m able to take off the jacket and use the scarf to tie my hair up! Now, as for me, I’m hoping the sun comes out for good pretty soon. This girl needs a serious tan. Anyone else out there with me?
